Set : OSPI/WSAC Wednesday Webinars for School Counselors
During the 2017-18 school year, the Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) will co-host a series of webinars for school counselors. Over the course of the year, we hope to provide relevant and timely information related to college readiness and financial aid, including specific policy changes and useful tools and resources to help you support students.
Webinars take place monthly, always on a Wednesday, from 10:30 – 11:30 AM.

October 4 - Webinar #1 Financial Aid Updates/GET 529/12th Year Campaign (youtube)
This webinar will review the financial aid applications in Washington and provide some updates for the 2018-19 financial aid season.
November 1 - Webinar #2 (OSPI) High School & Beyond Planning (youtube)
With the passage of HB 2224 there are new requirements for the High School & Beyond Plan that begin in 2017-2018. These new requirements are connected to the state assessments to prepare students with an intentional plan to graduate with a meaningful postsecondary path. At this webinar the new requirements will be discussed, with tools to make tracking this graduation requirement more efficient.
January 17 - K-12 Career and College Readiness: Focus on Younger Grades (youtube)
The college search process doesn’t have to start at the high school level. This webinar will explore how counselors in Elementary School are starting to prepare students early.
February 7 - The College Bound Repledge Campaign (youtube)
The College Bound scholarship allows income-eligible students to apply in middle school. However, many students reach high school and may need to be re-enganged with the scholarship. The Washington College Access Network (WCAN) has a repledge campaign designed to encourage College Bound students to remember the College Bound Pledge and encourage their success.
March 7 - Serving Special Populations (youtube)
This webinar will address how to support students from underserved populations such as first-generation, homeless, LGBTQ, and others in their college search and application process.
April 18 - Four-Year College Admission and CADR Updates (youtube)
This webinar will address the updates and changes to the CADRs from the WSAC, OSPI, and admissions perspective.
